Local Landscape Photography Competition
The Route 19A Arts Festival invites photographers to submit local landscape images that capture the beauty, character surrounding communities along Highway 19A.
This juried photography competition plays a unique role in the festival: selected images will be used as reference material for the live “Landscape Artist of the Festival” competition, connecting photographers and painters in a dynamic cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Exhibition Details

12 photographs will be selected to be short listed by a jury

Images will be printed and displayed at 8” x 10”

Exhibition location: Nordin Room, Lighthouse Community Centre

Display dates: Sept 12th & 13th, 2026

Images are required be in JPEG format

Maximum file size is 5MB. If your image file size is greater than this, use a photo or image editing program to reduce the size of the image before uploading.

Awards

1st Place: $300

2nd and 3rd place award certificates

Winners declared by public popular choice.
Winners will be announced on Sunday Sept 13th @ 3:30 and recognized in festival communications.
Use of Images

Juried photographs will be randomly selected by participating artists in the
“Landscape Artist of the Festival” live painting competition -
Artists may reproduce the image directly or use it as inspiration

Photographers will be credited in the exhibition and competition materials

Eligibility

Open to photographers from Vancouver Island and the Surrounding Gulf Islands

Images must depict local landscapes from the Route 19A region or surrounding area

Photographs must be original work by the submitting photographer
